 Bad Wimpfen’s Old Town
Bad Wimpfen’s Old Town.

Wimpfen’s exciting history tells of Celts, Romans and Staufians: The name "Wimpfen" is probably of Celtic origin: Unique pieces such as the "Wimpfener Götterhimmel" (literally "Wimpfen Gods' heaven") are Roman remains. The historical monument which characterises the look of Bad Wimpfen to this day was the largest Imperial Palace of its kind north of the Alps. Built in Staufian times, it comprises two imposing towers, the "Steinhaus" (Stone House), the Hohenstaufen Gate, the palace chapel and the arches.

Traditional festivals and markets such as the mardi gras carneval, craft market and Christmas market are important dates on the calendar. Concerts and exhibitions, arts and theatre are also on the programme the whole year round – all planned with careful attention to detail. The all-inclusive packages, day-programmes for groups and programmes for children which we offer dealing with the middle ages, health, the Neckar, the town and local wine will transform your stay in Bad Wimpfen into an unforgettable experience.

In the summer season visitors can enjoy a relaxing boat trip on the River Neckar or a cycling tour along the charming Neckar, Jagst and Kocher rivers. Find out more about attractions here.

We look forward to your visit!
